New 2009 Cadillac CTS-V To Be Equipped With Corvette Engine

In 2004, Cadillac came out with the high performance CTS-V to compete with European sport sedans. The car has been known for its high performance engine with a high power output. The CTS-V’s direct competitors are the BMW M3 and the M5 as well as the Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG and the E55 AMG. Since it is going up against some strong competition, it is a given that General Motors will improve its performance for future model years.
For the 2009 model year, there have been rumors in the auto industry that the CTS-V will be equipped with a supercharged engine. Speculations about the presence of a supercharger for the CTS-V came after photos of the prototype CTS-V came out. The hood of the prototype has a bulge which suggests that a supercharger was hidden somewhere under the hood of the car.
One speculation as to the powerplant of the 2009 CTS-V is that it is equipped with a supercharged variant of the 430-horsepower LS3 engine used in the 2008 Chevrolet Corvette. While another claim is that aside from a supercharger, the engine is also equipped with a Cadillac cold air intake system.

Another theory is that the Cadillac CTS-V will be equipped with a tuned down version of the 700-hosrsepower LS7 engine which will be used on the Corvette Z07. This means that the Cadillac CTS-V may have an engine with a power output of just 600 hp.
According to Edmunds.com though, the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will not be supercharged but will use a Corvette engine just the same. The leading online source of auto information said that come 2008, the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will be introduced in the market equipped with a 7.0-liter naturally aspirated LS7 engine.

The said engine can produce as much as 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The said power output is expected to give a remarkable acceleration and a high top speed for the 3,800 pound car. According to Edmunds, the engine that will be used on the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V is similar to the ones used by BMW in the E63 AMG. The advantage that the Cadillac has on the BMW is that the E63 AMG weighs about 4,000 pounds.

Meanwhile, the relationship between Cadillac and the Corvette takes another step in promoting the brands by making an appearance at this year’s Motorexpo which will be held from the eleventh up to the seventeenth of this month. The event will be held at London’s Canary Wharf.
Among the vehicles that will be displayed at the event are the Corvette Z06 Ron Fellows Edition and the right hand drive Cadillac SRX. Joining these two vehicles is the other right hand drive Cadillac model which is the Cadillac BLS. A left hand drive Cadillac Escalade will also grace the event with its presence.
The Corvette Z06 Ron Fellows Edition car was designed to celebrate Ron Fellows’ contribution to the Corvette racing program. The said limited edition car is equipped with an LS7 V8 engine mated to a six-speed transmission. The power from the said engine propels the car from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds. It has a top speed of 199 miles per hour.

Free Guides on Volvo's Car Child Care

The Swedish car manufacturer Volvo has always been known for prioritizing the safety of their consumers. As stated by the founders of the company, Assar Gabrielsson and Gustaf Larson, “Cars are driven by people. The guiding principle behind everything we make at Volvo therefore, is – and must remain - safety.”
The company has been researching and developing safety features for their vehicles for forty years now. During that span of time, Volvo has come up with breakthrough systems which increase the protection that their vehicles offer to their consumers.
According to the company, taking care of children inside cars is of utmost concern for them. Small children need special restraints which are specifically designed for their asize. According to the company, the needs of babies in terms of car safety are very different from that of grownups.

A grownup’s head accounts for about six percent of the total eight of the person. In comparison, babies’ head comprises about one half of their total weight. This hefty head is the weakest point of a baby. That is why it is of utmost importance that a baby should be harnessed to a child seat which adequately protects its head and other developing body parts.
Another concern is the developing pelvis of a child. This portion of the body cannot adequately anchor a seat belt in its proper position as easily as a grownup’s hips can. To ensure that the child will be safe in the unfortunate case of crash, booster seats should be provided for them. Booster seats are designed to fit a child’s body snugly. It also has specialized belt geometry which does not rely on the child’s hips to support it.
Not only babies should be protected carefully, unborn ones should be taken cared of too while a pregnant woman is in a vehicle. To develop safety features for pregnant women, Volvo uses pregnant crash dummies to study the effects of a crash in a pregnant woman. To date, only Volvo has engineered a pregnant crash test dummy in the industry.
The pregnant crash dummy is named Linda by Volvo. Linda is used to determine how a pregnant mother and the child inside the womb would react to various collisions. Aside from the physical attributes of a pregnant woman, Linda is also loaded with information about the uterus, placenta, amniotic fluid and the fetus. This helps safety engineers to study how a child inside a womb reacts to violent motions as a result of car crashes. The virtual pregnant Linda can be positioned in any way inside a car and the speed at which a car crashes can also be set by researchers.
With Linda, Volvo found out that pregnant women and their unborn child can e protected well by a front airbag. Volvo also found out that using a seat belt does no harm to an unborn baby. The company encourages pregnant women to always wear seatbelts to adequately protect their unborn babies.
With the advancements made by Volvo, they have become a leader in car safety. Their Volvo thermostat-equipped vehicles are known to be some of the safest in the world. With their accomplishments, Volvo is keen to develop more safety features to reduce fatalities caused by traffic accidents.

Review The Kia Rio -Quality In The Sub-Compact Segment

J.D. Power and Associates has recently released its 2007 Initial Quality Study SM (IQS) and the 2007 Kia Rio/Rio5 ranked highest in initial quality in the sub-compact segment. This is the second consecutive year that Rio/Rio5 has received this honor.
In 2006 the study was completely redesigned to capture issues experienced by owners in two distinct categories – quality of design and quality of production (defects and malfunctions).
In the study, the Kia Rio/Rio5 topped the sub-compact segment at 102 problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). The annual report measures 228 vehicle attributes across eight categories, including the driving experience, engine and transmission, and a broad range of quality problem symptoms reported by vehicle owners.

For 2007, the Rio and Rio5 model lineup, which includes three trim levels for the four-door sedan – Base, LX and SX – and the Rio5 SX five-door, continues to offer the same combination of engine performance and fuel economy as the 2006 model. All 2007 Rios feature a 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder, 110-hp engine with a standard 5-speed manual or optional 4-speed automatic. Base models are about as base as they get, without even power steering. The new SX is equipped with larger 15-inch tires, foglights, sporty metallic interior trim, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. This is on top of what the top-end LX offers, such as power steering, front console and air conditioning.

None of the trims come standard with power features, though there is an optional power package. Rear seats fold 60/40, and the Rio5 hatchback has expanded trunk space. When the seats are down in the hatch, the trunk offers 49.5 cubic feet of storage.
Rio and Rio5 also offer one of the largest interior volumes in their class, as well as six standard airbags, including full-length side-curtain airbags.

Volvo Grille:Mark The Car With Style

Every vehicle has many parts that contribute to the totality of its function. Every part or accessory is not useless---they all play important roles to achieve the premium performance of the car. Noted car makers such as Volvo have continually found ways to serve their patrons better by developing different car parts suitable for almost any car. Thus, when one takes a look at a Volvo, the distinction not only lies in its smooth performance, but also in the aesthetics. At the front of a Volvo one will immediately behold the beauty of its grille. How every Volvo Grille would mark the car with style, at the same time executing efficiency by allowing the car to breathe.

The Volvo Grille is an opening in the bodywork of the car to allow air to enter. Most vehicles feature a grille at the front of the vehicle to allow air to flow over the radiator and cool the engine compartment. Other common grille locations include below the front bumper, in front of the wheels (to cool the brakes), in the cowl for cabin ventilation, or on the rear deck lid (in rear engine vehicles). While some, have what appears to be tiny grilles which are not positioned to duct air through the radiator. These are horn grilles, which enable the sound of the horn to be clearly heard forward.
The Volvo Grille has become a distinction with its slash bar, bearing the emblem of its name. The emblem represents the company's core values: quality, safety, and environmental care. True to its values, the company managed to deliver their goals to their patrons, making their name immortal in the car industry. They have earned their right to be trusted when it comes to quality products that are durable enough to last the life of the car.

Chrysler To Improve Nitro and Sebring

Consumer Reports recently gave the Dodge Nitro and the Chrysler Sebring poor scores. For the Chrysler Sebring and the Dodge Avenger, Consumer Reports stated that they are not competitive with most family sedans. For the Dodge Nitro, Consumer Reports says that it has “some nice features, but unimpressive overall”.
This, of course, stirred a hornet’s nest inside the Chrysler Group. A top executive for the car manufacturer recently admitted to its employees that the Chrysler Group apparently misjudged the market in the development of the Chrysler Sebring and the Dodge Nitro.
Bob Lee, the head of powertrain engineering for the American car manufacturer, said that there are many people inside Chrysler who are “outraged” at the blunder given to the Nitro and the Sebring. He said that Chrysler’s Chief Executive Officer Tom LaSorda and Chief Operating Officer Eric Ridenour are “quite upset and agree the company missed where the market was to end up versus our projection.”

The Sebring and the Nitro failed miserably since Chrysler underestimated their competitors which are already established brands such as Toyota. The company is also reported to set too low standards in some areas of the two vehicles released last year. Fuel economy, interior quality and noise and vibration reduction are things that Chrysler needs to improve on the Sebring and the Nitro to make them competitive in the market.
“As a result of these embarrassing 'misses,' there are extremely aggressive actions being taken on many of the existing products - and also the yet to be introduced products to get us at least to the middle of the competitive pack in very short order,” says Lee.
After admitting the flaws on the Nitro and the Sebring, Bob Lee said that they are already in the process of overhauling their product development system. The company hopes that with the revamping of their current system, the blunder with the Nitro and the Sebring will not happen again. This is especially important to the auto manufacturer since they are on the verge of turning around their awful performance in the car market.

Frank Klegon, Chrysler’s product development chief, said that: “We’re certainly not satisfied with where we are. We have to get better.” Klegon also outlined a number of actions that they will take to improve their current system.
The company said that they will be focusing on sourcing more parts or materials from low-cost countries and will invest more on the interior of their vehicles. Aside from that, the Chrysler Group will also establish design studios which will help them better design the interior as well as the exterior of their future car models. These design studios will complement their engine development team which will produce more fuel-efficient engines probably with a help from the Chrysler cold air intake system among many others.
The company also hired the ASI Consulting Group which will help them to understand consumers better. The company has already worked for Hyundai. According to Klegon, the think tank was hired to help them “make a cultural change to move that needle to be proactive”. Klegon added that: “We're taking this on as an extreme change in the way we do predictive quality from the standpoint of customers. It's embedded in our vehicle teams and it's embedded in our components team.”

Tips on Jeep Bumper Brackets :Giving More Protection Than Ever

Jeeps are known to have high endurance in off-road trails and people consider it having a fearless character, great stamina, and strong durability. The fearless character could be easily attained with just an installation of exterior accessories that improve its already rugged look. But durability, stamina, and endurance are things that only be provided by the function and performance each Jeep part brings.
Bumpers are one of the parts that contribute in giving the three characters Jeep is reputable for, and also adds to the improvement of the Jeep’s look. Although bumpers are already useful, safety is something that people shouldn’t and couldn’t risk and so bumper improvements are only proper. One such thing that improves the function and appearance of bumpers of Jeep are the Jeep Bumper Brackets . It is a metal piece which connects the bumper to the reinforcement or frame.

The Jeep Bumper Brackets assembly is made up of different components. First is the bracket mounting, usually shaped like a rectangle. Second is the bracket support
which serves as the bracket for mounting other bracket types. Third is the bracket stay which holds the bumper ends in most cars. Fourth, there is a bracket arm which serves the same purpose as the bracket stay but instead is shaped like a human arm. And fifth, the bracket reinforcement which holds the bumper reinforcement to the car’s frame.
Although these Jeep Bumper Brackets are made with only highly durable materials, several minor collisions could still put a bent on these things and be damaged. Especially with Jeeps being used in off-road trails, drivers shouldn’t be surprised if one day their Jeep Bumper Brackets give up. And when this day comes, Jeep owners should be ready to acquire themselves a replacement only in their trusted aftermarket dealers. Jeep Bumper Brackets are minor parts but essential in adding safety and protection to the vehicle and its passengers

Review The Prius - Much Loved Toyota

Only a third of Prius owners cited that reason just three years ago, according to CNW, which tracks auto shopping trends. “I really want people to know that I care about the environment,” said Joy Feasley of Philadelphia, the owner of a green 2006 Prius. “I like that people stop and ask me how I like my car.” Dan Becker, the head of the global warming program at the Sierra Club added, “The Prius allowed you to make a green statement with a car for the first time ever.”

This spring, over half of the Prius owners surveyed by CNW Marketing Research of Bandon, Ore., said that the main reason they bought their car was that it makes a statement about them.
Mary Gatch of Charleston, S.C., picked the car over a hybrid version of the Toyota Camry after trading in a Lexus sedan. “I felt like the Camry Hybrid was too subtle for the message I wanted to put out there,” Gatch said. “I wanted to have the biggest impact that I could, and the Prius puts out a clearer message.”
Unlike the original Prius buyers, who wanted to be first with its innovative technology, the latest owners are far more conscious of foreign oil dependence and global warming, said Doug Coleman, Toyota’s product manager for Prius. “Consumer knowledge and consumer awareness is changing,” Coleman said.

Prius sales for the first six months of the year increased 93.7 percent from last year, to 94,503, and the Japanese automaker has already sold close to as many Prius cars as it did in all of 2006.
The Toyota Prius was first embraced by famous celebrities and remains in trend long after most cars have lost their hum. Owners have included Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, Billy Joel, and Larry David. David has bought three, including one for his role in the HBO series “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”

Now Prius drivers are typically found in cities on the East and West Coasts, and in college towns like Ann Arbor, Mich., and State College, Pa. “You can’t drive across town without seeing half a dozen of them,” said Peter Darnell, a software engineer and Prius owner in Westford, Mass., north of Boston. Darnell admits to feeling smug this year when gasoline prices spiked above $3 a gallon. But that was not the main reason he purchased a Prius. “I have to admit that I’m a granola-crunching liberal, and I really liked the idea of minimizing the impact on the environment,” Darnell said.

Corey Confer, the general sales manager at Joel Confer Toyota in State College, said that he had received calls from as far away as Key West, Fla., from buyers looking for a Prius. His dealership advertises an $800 discount on each vehicle. A number of dealers in the West are adding $2,000 premiums.
Nationwide, Prius sales increased dramatically in May, when gasoline prices rose over $3 a gallon. Worldwide, Toyota has sold over one million Prius cars. Toyota was alarmed to see Prius sales even out last year. But before gas prices hit record levels, Prius sales were climbing again.

Free Guides on Keeping The Brakes Reliable

Being on a freeway can be tough. You have to act as though you're in one of those fast car movies that don't seem to notice that there is a steep cliff ahead. It has become a race. The first one to pass it goes home early. But what if you are hurrying and doing a hundred on the freeway when suddenly, you notice a very important part of your driving aspect is missing. You freak out knowing that your breaks aren't working. Worst part is, you see traffic up ahead. Is this it for you? This is something you don't want to experience.

If you ask anyone that owns a car, the most important thing to do before driving off somewhere is always checking the credibility of your brakes. You have to inspect the brake rotors, pads, and be sure that you have enough brake fluid to withstand tough rush hours. The good thing about vehicles today is that drivers can now check the level of their brake fluid or the status of it without even opening the lid. This reservoir is located at the side of the driver just behind the engine bay. The moment you have spotted the reservoir, you have to replace your brake fluid.Once you find out that your fluid is low, don't fret because you can fill it up in no time following some simple instructions. Before opening the cap, remove foreign materials surrounding it. Better yet, wipe it clean.
Use a rag or a piece of cloth that you have never used for anything else. You have to realize that your brake system is sensitive enough that when it catches a foreign material inside it, this would cause your engine some trouble. Better clean than sorry. The moment you take off the cap, slowly pour the brake fluid into the reservoir till it rises to the desired level. Do not let it overflow. Replace the cap and wipe off smudges or spills. Do this process whenever you notice that the brake fluid is becoming low. The checking of the pads and rotors must be done every other day before going someplace. You have to remember not to shake the bottle of fluid before dipping it into your car. Bubbles can cause a few problems. Now that you're done, have a safe trip!

Free Tips on How Jumpstarting Your Car

There are many reasons why people end up with a dead battery in their car. It may be leaving the lights on while they are parked, or it can be any other reason. Getting caught with a dead battery in the mall's parking lot with groceries in hand can be a very frustrating situation to be in. In times like this many people will rely on the kindness of strangers. Before attempting to jumpstart your car, you will need a few things first. You will need a car with the same voltage battery as your car and it should be fully charged, a wire brush, safety glasses, rubber gloves, and a set of jumper cables. If you have all of these things, then you are ready to jumpstart your car.

Well, not quite yet. You first need to stand at the side of the road and flag down a car that you think has the same battery voltage as yours. If you are lucky enough, someone will be willing to assist you and they may have jumper cables with them. You have to remember that there are two types of people who will assist you. One is motorists who have jumper cables with them, and the other has none. This is why it is recommended that you should get your own set of jumper cables. Jumper cables can be quite costly but it will be worth it when you experience getting stuck with a dead battery. Now that you have all the tools you need and the willing motorist, you now have to check your battery first. The battery contains sulfuric acid. If that solution is frozen, never attempt to jumpstart your car. This can result in an exploding battery which can injure you and anyone in the vicinity. You should also check your battery for cracks. If it is, it's shot and should not be jumpstarted.
If you are in this situation, it is better to get a ride and buy a new battery for your car.If your battery has white, green or blue flakes on the terminals, clean them off first with a wire brush. You should wear gloves when you do so as these flakes can be quite nasty if it comes in contact with the skin. The flakes can also be an indication that you need a new battery. If your battery and the willing motorist's battery is of the same voltage, you are now ready to get your car jumpstarted. The first step is to attach one end of the jumper cable to the dead battery's positive terminal. Attach the other end to the starting vehicle battery's positive terminal.
Then, taking the other cable, attach one end to the starting car's negative terminal and attach the other end to the dead car's engine block. For safety, stand back from the hoods of the cars. Then, start the car providing the jumpstart. After about five minutes, start the car with the dead battery. If it doesn't work, stop trying and wait a few more minutes. The car with the dead battery should start by now and if it doesn't, it may be time to call a tow truck. When both cars are started, remove the cable connections. Do it in reverse as when you installed it. This means that you should start by disconnecting the cable from the engine block of the jumpstarted car, then the negative terminal on the car providing the jumpstart, then the end of the cable from the positive terminal of the car providing the jumpstart and lastly the cable from the positive terminal on the car with the dead battery.Jumpstarting the car is just a temporary solution. You should get the battery charged right after you get it started by jumpstarting it.That's it. You are good to go. Don't forget to thank the motorist who helped you out.

Tips on Cleaning Your Car's Battery Posts For Reliable Starting

One of the most important components that makes a car run is the battery. If the battery connection is dirty, your car will come to a complete stop and will be very difficult to start. To know if your car's battery connection is dirty, you will see a flaky white residue on the terminals of your car's battery. You need to get this white residue off as it will interfere with the electricity needed to flow between the car and the battery.

The first step in cleaning the battery is by removing the terminals. Cleaning the batteries with the cables connected will result in not getting it cleaned thoroughly. It's like trying to wash your feet with your shoes on.Depending on how the cables are connected to the battery, you will need one or two wrenches. If the terminals have two nuts, then you will need two wrenches. However, if it has one nut with a big square, you will only need one wrench. When removing the terminals, you should always remember that you should remove the negative cable first. If the terminal requires two wrenches, turn the other one clockwise and the other one counterclockwise. After removing the cables and the connectors, the next step is to clean them up.There are a number of ways to get rid of the corrosion.
Some people will tell you that soda will do the trick. But, unless you have no other choice to clean it up, go for the more modern method where special cleaning fluids can effectively get rid of corrosion.Squirt the solution on the battery posts and terminals, especially the insides. If you have a little brush, use it to clear away the white-colored build up. The terminals and the posts will start foaming and let it do so for a few minutes. Then, rinse it off with a little water. After cleaning both terminals, the next step is to install anti-corrosion discs if you use them. Then, reinstall the terminals. Always remember that you should install the terminals with the positive first and then the negative. As you can see, it is quite easy to clean the battery terminals and posts. All you need is just a few minutes of your time, a battery cleaning solution and you're done. With clean battery terminals and posts, you can be sure of a reliable start.

Free Guides on Performing A Radiator Flush

The car's radiator is responsible for keeping your engine cool and prevents it from overheating. However, as time passes, the radiator can get quite dirty and will need to be cleaned in order to perform efficiently in keeping your engine cool. Cleaning the radiator by performing a radiator flush is inexpensive and will prevent expensive damages to your car's engine. Also, it is something that you can do yourself. Before you perform a radiator flush, you need to make sure that you have everything that you need to perform it. There's nothing more frustrating than draining your radiator only to realize that you need something from the auto parts store that is in another part of town to completely perform the flush. What you will need is a Phillips head screwdriver or a wrench (depending on what the radiator requires), a cloth rag, coolant, radiator flush solution, funnel, and a used coolant receptacle.

Before you perform the radiator flush, you need to make sure that your engine is completely cool. If you just used your car, let it cool for a few hours, or perform the flush the next day.Now that you are ready to perform the radiator flush, the first step is to drain the radiator of the old coolant. Locate the drain plug, which could be anywhere along the bottom of the radiator. It will either be a screw or a bolt plug or even a petcock. Before you loosen it and let the old coolant drain out, be sure that the used coolant receptacle is placed under the drain. After the radiator is completely drained, replace the drain plug and open the radiator cap. Add the contents of the radiator flush solution to the radiator and fill it to the top with water.Replace the radiator cap and make sure it's tight.
After that, start the car and let it run until it gets to its operating temperature or when you see that temp gauge reach the temperature level it normally stays at.Then, turn your heater on and move the temperature control to the hottest position. Let the car and the heater run for about 10 to 15 minutes and turn the car off as well as the heater. Wait until the engine cools off. If the radiator cap is still hot to the touch, it's still hot to open.Once the engine has cooled down, the next step is to drain the radiator again.
Open the drain plug and empty the contents in the radiator. Just remember that nothing from the radiator should leak onto the ground. Now that the radiator is cleaned, the next step is to replace the radiator drain plug or close the petcock. Then, open the radiator cap and refill the radiator with fresh coolant. It is recommended that you fill the radiator with 1:1 mixture of coolant and water. This means that 50 percent should be coolant and the remaining 50 percent should be water. After you fill the radiator, you can fill the plastic coolant reservoir with the same coolant and water mixture.Tighten everything, including the caps and you are ready to go. With a clean radiator, you can be sure that you are keeping your car's engine properly maintained and perform efficiently.

Subaru Says Farewell To Impreza WRX

It has been five years since Japanese automaker Subaru introduced the redesigned Impreza in the United States auto market. The introduction of the said redesigned Impreza has made waves in the auto industry. In fact, the Subaru Impreza has set the benchmark for future compact sports sedan in the country.
During those five years, the Impreza has received many upgrades including a facelift which gives it a look similar to an Alfa Romeo. For the 2008 model year, Subaru is slated to introduce the newest installment of the Impreza, but the company will no longer be offering the sports-tuned Subaru Impreza WRX.

The street legal rally car is called the GB270 which comes from the United Kingdom’s Rally GB. The said auto model was designed by Prodrive. The motorsports and automotive engineering company designed the last of the GBs to be instant classic rally cars.
The engineering team behind the development of the last of the GBs has given the car a modified version of its standard engine. The original engine of the Subaru Impreza is a 2.5-liter boxer engine. After the modifications done to the engine, it now produces 266 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. That power and torque output is 40 hp and 74 lb-ft more than the output of the standard engine.
The standard engine can propel the Impreza to 60 miles per hour from a standstill in 5.9 seconds. With the modified engine, the GB can reach that speed from a standstill in just 5.3 seconds. With increased torque, the GB has better acceleration. Stopping power is provided by efficient and capable Subaru brakes which are known for their reliability. From a standstill to 100 miles per hour, the conventional engine would take 14.4 seconds but with the Prodrive modified engine, 100 mph can be attained within 13.9 seconds.
Aside from the modifications on the engine, the Subaru Impreza WRX comes equipped with a lowering spring kit which gives the Impreza a lowered profile. Reduced air drag is the result of this addition. Sportier handling is also improved with the sports tuning of the Impreza. According to Subaru, the last GBs will also be equipped with a quickshift gearchange. Included in the package are 18x7.5-inch GT1 wheels.
On the outside, the last units of the Impreza WRX were given a new rear spoiler and mesh grille for the sedan variant. For the sports wagon version of the WRX is given a new rear waist spoiler, front and rear aerodynamic pieces and black mesh grille and gloss black rollers.
While many performance enthusiasts will be clamoring to buy one, Subaru announced that only a handful of these hopefuls would be able to take home the final edition of the Subaru Impreza WRX. This is because only 400 units will be manufactured by the Japanese automaker. 300 of this will be sedans while the remaining 100 will be wagons.
According to Subaru, the Impreza WRX will be offered with optional features which include an ICE pack which is consisted of a Clarion SatNav and iPod adaptor as well as a Bluetooth phone kit. Other options include Alcantara leather for the interior, and glass window tinting.

Mercedes
-Benz USA launches a bigger Baby Benz imbibing the Mercedes standards. And it comes at an aggressive price.
“The C-Class is a gateway to the Mercedes-Benz brand,” said Bernie Glaser, general manager, product management. “Priced at around $30,000, it brings new and younger buyers to our brand. It is also a stairway up into our brands, because some customers step up to the (midsize) E-Class, the CLS, potentially into the (flagship) S-Class,” he said.
The new Mercedes C-Class gets minor facelift for 2008 while the least-expensive 2007 model is discontinued. The new C-Class sedan has $31,975 as manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the C300 Sport model, with a standard six-speed manual transmission. The 2008 C300 Luxury model is $33,675, with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Both versions have a 228-hp 3.0-liter V6 engine.

A third model in the American Mercedes lineup is the 2008 C350 Sport, with a 268-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine, at $37,275. Sales of those three models start on August 7. All-wheel-drive 4Matic models will be available starting in September. A high-performance AMG model is expected to be added next year.
The 2008 C-Class is the third generation of the Mercedes entry-level car. In 1982, the automaker first launched the 190 Class, which was promptly called the “Baby Benz.” In 1993, the C-Class replaced the 190 Class, and the next generation C-Class generation debuted in 2000.

The latest C-Class is bigger than the model it replaces in nearly every dimension, including overall wheelbase, length, front and rear shoulder room, and trunk space. “This is a direct response to criticisms customers had about the old model; this is what customers told us they want,” Glaser said.
The 2008 C-Class is designed to rival the BMW 3 Series and the Lexus ES and IS models. With the 2008 model, Mercedes is also trying to make its “Sport” and “Luxury” C-Class models more distinct from each other. The company has offered two versions of the C-Class since the 2005 model year, but the divergence was less apparent.

The new C-Class Sport is equipped with enhanced Mercedes Benz muffler, slightly racier exterior styling, a metallic instrument panel and rubber-studded aluminum pedals, three-pointed Mercedes-Benz star in the grille, in place of the traditional, stand-up hood ornament. The seven-speed automatic transmission is optional, for $1,440. Mercedes-Benz aficionados know the “star in the grille” is usually exclusive to the company’s sporty coupes.
The Luxury models have the distinctive black instrument panel, a traditional hood ornament, burl walnut wood trim and an exclusive exterior color dubbed as “sand beige metallic.”
The 2008 C300 Luxury is actually $500 less than the 2007 C280 Luxury model, which has the same engine. The bad news is that Mercedes is dropping what could be called its “entry-level” model, the 2007 C230, once it is sold out. That means the least-expensive C-Class for 2008, the C300 Sport, costs $1,550 or 5.1 percent more than the least-expensive C-Class for 2007, the C230 Sport.

But according to Mercedes-Benz, if you added options to the 2007 model to match the standard equipment in the 2008 model, like a power sunroof, upgraded front seats, Bluetooth connectivity and dual-zone climate control, the bigger and more powerful 2008 model would actually cost less than the comparably equipped 2007 model.
A $2,700 option package includes navigation, plus a 450-watt Harman/Kardon system with 12 speakers. The upgraded system can save music from a CD onto a hard drive. It also can play tracks stored on a data CD, DVD or memory card.
“We have raised the bar for the fourth time for ourselves, and for the competition,” Glaser concluded.

Free Guides on Volvo Head Gasket

Among the many complicated parts of a car, one should always be knowledgeable in managing and handling all of them. Who drives a car without knowing where his coil springs are located? And what is an oxygen sensor? How about the head gasket? Because most of the car's compression is caused by a good head gasket. One can not just run a vehicle without thinking about his car's good compression.

Volvo, the Swedish genius behind the evolution of modern cars today, is continuously innovating its technology to better serve its loyal patrons. They are responsible for most of the production of trusted quality car parts, and they make it easier for drivers to locate their coil springs, oxygen sensors and head gasket. How? Because these parts are sure to function without fail.
Among the best-in-class products of Volvo is the Volvo Head Gasket. The Volvo Head Gasket is a gasket between the engine block and cylinder head in an internal combustion engine. Its purpose is to seal the cylinders to ensure maximum compression and avoid leakage of coolant or engine oil into the cylinders.
There are three types of Head Gaskets with different makes. There is an MLS gasket or a Multiple Layers Steel which could be commonly found in most modern head engines. These typically consist of three layers of steel. Another one is the Solid Copper. A solid sheet of copper, and typically requires special machining called "o-ringing" that places a piece of wire around the circumference of the cylinder to bite into the copper. Last is the Composite, which is an older technology made from asbestos or graphite, but is becoming rare nowadays because it is more prone to blowouts.
Sometimes, the compression in the cylinder may cause a leak to form in the gasket, usually referred to as a “blown” head gasket. Fortunately, this will be a rare occurrence when a car is hooked up with the Volvo Head Gasket. Because for nearly 80 years of service, Volvo is almost sublime.

Volvo Headlights

Night driving is not always breezy and starry for a lot of people. Some have a lot of difficulty because of the dark. Lamp posts may be of help, but not all the highways are equipped with them. When one thinks of taking a long drive to visit Uncle Johnny in Kansas, one must be confident that his headlights would not let him down. But if he is hooked up with the Volvo Headlights, then he must drive away without any trouble.

The Volvo Headlights are usually attached to the front of the car, with the purpose of illuminating the road ahead during periods of low visibility, such as night or precipitation. The Volvo Headlights are electrically operated, positioned in pairs, one or two on each side of the front of a vehicle. A headlight system is required to produce a low and a high beam, which may be achieved either by an individual lamp for each function or by a single multifunction lamp.
High beams cast most of their light straight ahead, maximizing seeing distance, but producing too much glare for safe use when other vehicles are present on the road. Because there is no especial control of upward light, high beams also cause back dazzle from fog, rain and snow due to the retroflection of the water droplets. Low beams have stricter control of upward light, and direct most of their light downward and rightward to provide safe forward visibility without excessive glare or back dazzle.
The Volvo Headlights are made of high-quality and durable materials that are enough to last through the car's life. However, when it gets broken, one must immediately seek professional help and get new Volvo Headlights. After all, with Volvo's 80 successful years in the car industry, it is undoubtedly the most perfect partner with all of the night driving fantasies that one must fulfill.

Great Hydraulic Pressure - Volvo Master Cylinder

Every car needs a provider of great hydraulic pressure in order to maintain the efficiency of the hydraulic system. Not every driver or car owner knows what his master cylinder does for him and his car, when in fact it should be well-known. The master cylinder contributes well to the safety of the driver. Even if the primary and secondary cylinders should have a leak, the master cylinder acts alone to ensure that enough pressure will still be available when the driver steps on the brakes.
Fortunately, there is a company that understands the grave importance that the master cylinder has. Volvo, one of the world's genius in the automotive history, has developed the advanced technology that a high quality master cylinder should be made of. Thus, the Volvo Master Cylinder is of high quality and great performance.

The Volvo Master Cylinder supplies pressure to both circuits of the car. It is a remarkable device that uses two pistons in the same cylinder in a way that makes the cylinder relatively failsafe. Meanwhile, it is the combination valve that warns the driver if there is a problem with the brake system, and also does a few more things to make your car safer to drive. The Volvo Master Cylinder has a brake-fluid source, which is called the brake-fluid reservoir. It also has an electrical connection which is a sensor that triggers a warning light when the brake fluid gets low.
When a driver presses down the brake pedal, it pushes on a primary piston through a linkage. Pressure builds in the cylinder and lines as the brake pedal is depressed further. The pressure between the primary and secondary piston forces the secondary piston to compress the fluid in its circuit. If the brakes are operating properly, the pressure will be the same in both circuits. That is how the Volvo Master Cylinder operates.
Since it is exposed to such an arduous task, it is also vulnerable to wearing out. Although this will happen after a very long time with the Volvo Master Cylinder, one should always ensure that it is replaced or taken care of by a professional. And one must do away with the old, unreliable ones, and trust the name of Volvo. Because with 80 years of service, Volvo knows what is best.

Review The Bravo Fiat

Bravo is word that is used to express approval, especially of a performance. It is the Italian translation for “well done”. Fiat, on the other hand, is a Latin word which means a decree, sanction, or order with authority. When these two words are combined, practically, the result is Bravo Fiat. But mechanically, the result is Fiat Bravo – the car that is ordered to do a well done job.
Why 'Bravo'? Bravo is a well known and understood word in every corner of the world. Fiat Auto used the word’s familiarity around the world to name its newest car. With a new design, new engines and other new developments, the all new bravo is said to be more successful than the Grande Punto. Bravo’s original make was sold form 1995 up to 2001.

The Exterior The all new Fiat Bravo is a five door saloon with a sporty image and has the style to look like a three door coupe. At a glance, this five-door hatchback will first strike you with the suave lines of its body. Its front nose has the same styling cues like those on the sports car stables at the Fiat Auto Group, such as the Ferrari and the Maserati.
On this aspect, it is more than coincidence that designer Frank Stephenson was originally tasked to head the design at the Ferrari part of the business before moving to his present role.
The Interior The new Fiat car is compact. But it is extremely spacious because of some well done engineering designs that yields comfort to both the driver and the passengers.
This car is very considerate for it takes into consideration the average height of the present day population. A proof is that inside this car, when a seated driver measures 2 meters tall, he or she can comfortably seat and drive at the same time; and when a seated passenger measures 1.8 meters tall, he or she can experience comfortable back seat conditions. This consideration is very vital to people who spend more time in their cars.
Practically speaking, the new Fiat Bravo is in. It is a family car with boot space of 400 liters with the rear seat in place. That space can be further increased to up to 1175 liters with rear seats folded down.
Main Point Generally speaking, the new Bravo at first glance arouses emotions. When you get inside, you will further appreciate the car because of the quality of materials that were used and the care that is built for the smallest details. Once bought, the car ensures a wide array of advanced technological features plus quality standards that fit a higher class car. In other words, safety, comfort, and driving enjoyment are packaged.
It is well done and is ordered by the manufacturer to perform at its best. This car deserves a round of applause while shouting the word ‘bravo!’
The Arrival The new Bravo range will arrive in North America in late summer. Full details of prices, engines, and equipment levels will be announced on the days before its arrival.
About the Fiat Auto An Italian car and engine manufacturer, the Fiat Group or the Fiat S.p.A. is also a financial and industrial group that is based in Turin, Northern Italy. It is also a maker of quality auto parts like Fiat oxygen sensor. In 1899, the group was established by a group of investors including Giovanni Agnelli. The company name FIAT is an acronym for ‘Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino’ which is translated in English as Italian Car Factory of Turin. It also means ‘let there be’ in Latin.
At one point in time, the company was also into manufacturing aircraft equipments. Cars using the Fiat brand are built in Italy, Poland, Brazil and Argentina. The brand also has joint venture productions in France, Turkey, Egypt (with the state owned Nasr car company), South Africa, India and China.

Pumping Fuel Into The Engine - VW

Volkswagen thrives on its class, simplicity, and economy. These attributes are reflected on its vehicle designs. For example, basic VW automotive architecture involves having the fuel tank located in a car's opposite end off the engine. Because of this distance, a specially-designed, yet fundamentally-constructed VW fuel pump is needed to draw the gas toward the engine. There are two kinds of VW fuel pumps: the mechanical fuel pump, used in carburetor-run older VW models like Brasilia and Combi, and the electric fuel pump, used in the more recent, electronically fuel injected (EFI) cars.

Electric fuel pumps, the ones used by VW today, are almost always located inside the gas tank. This helps prevent vapor lock and keeps the fuel pump to a low and controlled temperature. The VW fuel pump is a turbine type hydraulic unit directly linked to a permanent magnet motor. This motor uses the fuel as its lubricant and coolant. Electric fuel pumps are used in EFI engines because they can produce high pressures needed for proper fuel management. An electric VW fuel pump is typically capable of putting out about 90 pounds per square inch (psi) of fuel pressure. A check valve is included in the fuel outlet to hold pressure when the pump is not running. Another valve, the pressure limiter, is located at the pressure side of the fuel pump housing, with a return passage to the fuel inlet side to keep fuel pressure within the prescribed specifications.
As the rotor disc rotates, the rollers are pressed outwards by centrifugal force and act as a circulating seal. The circulating rollers, in turn, creates a pumping action drawing in fuel at the inlet port and forcing the fuel through the outlet port and into the fuel system. When the pump is shut off, the check valve in the fuel outlet closes, therefore prohibiting the fuel from returning to the fuel tank through the fuel pump. The check valve therefore maintains pressure in the fuel lines called the "rest pressure." Maximum fuel pump pressure depends on the calibration of the pressure limiter. In a clogged fuel filter, for example, the fuel pump pressure exceeds a preset limit, resulting to a by-pass opening to the fuel inlet side of the pump by the pressure limiter.
Fuel pump failure is not uncommon, particularly in cars with electronic fuel injection. Usually, when a fuel pump fails, a car will simply sputter and die, and will not restart. Essentially, a car with fuel pump failure will act like it is out of gas, even when there is gas in the tank. Fuel pump failure can be verified by checking the fuel delivery end of the system -- if no fuel is being delivered to the engine, the fuel pump has most likely failed.
Replacing an electronic VW fuel pump can be really tricky. The fuel pump is usually mounted along with the fuel tank sending unit. Care must be taken when removing the pump/sender assembly so as not to damage the sender unit. Some vehicles have an access panel to get to the fuel pump without having to drop the tank. VW generally does have these panels. Some cars require a special tool to disconnect the fuel lines. Other cars have an access panel in the interior of the car that can be removed to reach the fuel pump. Still other vehicles require the fuel tank to be siphoned and removed, or dropped, before the fuel pump can be accessed. The latter type of car usually makes for the most laborious job of replacing a fuel pump. Arduous the changing of a fuel pump may be, but with this lies the car's efficient fuel intake.

Free Tips on How to Start A Hot Engine

Although usually engines exposed to cold weather is the most known problem related to car starting difficulties, hot engines might bring obstacles as well. Many people realize that the car do not start as easily as it should when the engine is hot and do not know what to do about it. In order to be able to overcome this problem, it is important to start by learning why it happens.
Most of the reasons by which a hot engine would be hard to start are based on problems related to the fuel. When the engine is too hot, fuel can't circulate properly due to the way in which vapor obstructs it and therefore the engine wouldn't start as easily as it should or it wouldn't start at all.
A car engine would keep on gaining temperature until a while after it was shut off. During this period of time is when the highest amount of vapor would be circulating around and therefore that is when the chances it obstructs the engine are bigger as well. This way, if you are driving in hot weather and you have just turned off the car in which you experience start problems, you should wait for a few minutes until starting it back.
Fuel injected engines do not experience this problem as much as others do due to the fact that the fuel remains inside the injectors by being under a very high pressure. This way, fuel injected engines would not become so easily obtruded by vapors as other engines would and therefore the car would not have the same problems to start as another would.
Also, engines might become hard to start while being hot if it coincides with the season in which refiners change from a fuel blend to another. Sometimes gasoline refiners change from a higher volatility fuel to a lower one when summer approaches due to the way in which hot weather causes fuel to evaporate easier. If refiners change back to a higher volatility fuel while the engine is still exposed to days of high temperatures, this could cause the fuel to evaporate too much creating too much vapor and therefore obtruding the engine.

Free Tips to on How to Start A Cold Engine

Starting a car with a cold engine can be very difficult sometimes and it can become a real obstacle for those who live surrounded by extremely cold weathers. This way, for all those who might experience this problem it is not only important to learn how to overcome it but also why it happens in order to be able to prevent it as much as possible as well.
Cold engines might experience problems at the time to start due to different reasons. One of these reasons can be based on the effect which cold has on liquids evaporation. When it is cold, gasoline evaporates less and this cause it to be more difficult to burn due to the fact that it is burnt when it is evaporated.
Another reason by which a cold engine might have problems to start is caused by the fact that oil becomes much thicker in cold than the way it is in hot. Oil, like any other liquid changes its consistency when it is exposed to very low temperatures as well as it changes back when it is in a very hot weather, and this might cause oil to have problems at the time of circulating in the car engine.
Besides the engine, car batteries might experience problems while being in cold weathers as well and this could affect the engine. Batteries function through chemical reactions which loose agility while being cold and therefore, in such circumstances, batteries don't function properly. When this happens, the car energy becomes affected and this causes problems for the engine start.
If these three problems happen together, starting an engine might become a really hard task to achieve. In order to overcome the lack of gasoline evaporation problem, you can spray ether into the engine which would evaporate quickly and help the engine start. Besides this, you can also to prevent having oil too thick which wouldn't circulate properly by using thin synthetic oils. You should also try to maintain the car isolated from cold as much as possible, but by using the two last mentioned methods you would experience much less problems at the time of staring the car in cold weather.

Free Tips on How to Recondition a Battery

If you're like most of us, you know how much of an expense and inconvenience a dead battery can be. By the time you pay for a tow truck to come and boost or replace your battery, plus any lost earnings that you may have incurred, you can see that the costs quickly add up. And while being able to recondition a dead battery may not solve your immediate problems, it can definitely eliminate the expense of buying a new battery. Plus, if you're so inclined, you can turn it into a very profitable business. And the best part is that it's very easy and inexpensive.
Automotive lead-acid batteries generate electricity by using lead plates surrounded by sulfuric acid. Along with electricity, this double sulfate reaction also produces lead sulfate.
Normally in a healthy battery, the lead sulfate is converted back to lead and sulfuric acid when it is recharged. But in an older battery, or one that's been discharged for a long period of time, the lead sulfate changes to a crystalline form. It then coats the lead plates of the battery and reduces the capacity of the battery. This process is known as sulfation, and is a normal occurrence in lead-acid batteries. It's also one of the most common reasons that these batteries fail.
When sulfation happens, it causes a host of problems within the battery. It's responsible for lowered capacity, longer recharge times, higher working temperatures, and increased corrosion.
The good news is that sulfation can often times be reversed. A specialized battery charger that pulses a high current through the battery is often used. This allows the crystalline lead sulfate to be broken down and turned back into lead and sulfuric acid, thus cleaning the lead plates and regaining charge capacity.
So before you throw that battery away, you should look into battery reconditioning as a way to save it. And if you're interested, you can also earn a substantial amount of money by reconditioning free dead batteries, and then reselling them. A very small investment for a very large return!

Types and Styles of Brake Lathe Repair Systems

Replacing drums, rotors, and other sections of the braking system can be an expensive venture. One of the best ways to lower this cost is by doing a brake lathe repair that resurfaces these items to restore their effectiveness. Brake lathe parts and machines are available that can repair all different styles and fix a variety of problems, including sticking and noise. Whether you are an at-home mechanic or working in a professional repair shop, these systems allow you to achieve the highest quality repair. Many different styles and models exist to help you reach this goal.
Bench Brake Lathe Repair Systems

Bench type models require you to remove the drums and rotors from the vehicle in order to repair them. These are commonly found in private and commercial settings. To use these systems, you only have to set the part into the machine and start the cutting process. With a high quality machine and practice, you can produce parts that are equivalent or even better quality than the original piece. The brake lathe parts, known as adapters and mounting cones, determine the majority of the quality. If you are looking for the best quality, these are the brake lathe parts that you want to be careful about selecting. If they begin to wear, replace them immediately.
With bench units, you have the option of single, variable, or high-speed styles. Digital measuring and printouts are another great option for achieving the best possible results. Some of these repair machines are designed specifically for rotors or drums. Other units can repair both, which is a huge advantage over the second type known as an on-car system.
On-Car Brake Lathes
A great addition to bench styles is on-car brake lathe repair systems because they allow the work to be performed directly on the car. One of the biggest benefits to this style is that there is no risk of wrecking the hub or wheel bearings because all of those parts can be left in place. They are also known for their ability to reduce the risk of runout on the rotor and uneven surfaces.
This type of system attaches in one of two ways. One style, called a caliper mount, attaches directly to the knuckle where the caliper mounts. On the down side, it requires some movement in the wheel bearing which means you may need to tighten adjustable styles. A hub-mounted style is also available. It can produce the same level of quality, but has similar issues to caliper-mount versions.
The biggest downfall of both brake lathe repair systems is that they need to be set up perfectly in order to get a high quality repair. Standard models are made with either a one or a three-point system with a dial to help you define the perfect setup. To help eliminate this problem, some have brake lathe parts, such as a computer system, to set up the equipment accurately with very little effort.

Free Tips For Car Rust Treatment

Cars are now a days very expensive. Even some of them cost much more than the salary of an average American. Most Americans buy car on car loan scheme. They have to pay the money in installments for 60 or 72 months. The interest rate is very high for this e.m.i. thus the owner has to pay heavy amount in installments.
Since we are paying heavy amount for the car then its our duty to protect them as long as possible. Foremost problem that the car suffers is the problem of rust. Either you have to prevent it or use rust products to remove rust from the body of the car.
If you say in medical terms then you can say that rust is like cancer for the car. It becomes worst when gets started and slowly spreads to entire body. The body of the car is made of metal sheet and we all know that metals are prone to get rusted. Rust is seen in areas like extreme weather, moisture or road side salt used in the winter climate.
There are various ways to have treatment against rust and it can be cured if proper care is taken.
Though the vehicle sheet metal is covered with thin coat of primer paint but this is not enough. Roadside dirt, debris or even hail is enough to damage this thin coat. Even the small scratch on the body will make the body naked to the environment. Then moisture, salt of the atmosphere will come in contact with the naked part of the metal body. Oxidation of the metal will start. This chemical reaction on the metal is known as rust. In Chemistry rust is nothing less than simply loss of electron for which the metal gets weak which helps more in rusting.

It is always recommended that you should clean and wax the car in every two week. Carefully observe the body parts of the car from where rust can start. Look for the scratches, nicks and dings which caused some naked part in the body of the paint. Take special care for this part so that rust can't be started in this area. Cover these naked parts and seal them so that moisture can't come in contact with the metal body. Touch up paint is best suitable for this situation. Chose the best suitable touch up paint which matches your car color and use it over the affected area. These can act as effective rust treatment for the car. As first-aid you can also use nail polish. In small scratch area toothpick is always a better option than included brush for the touch up paint.
Most important thing is for rust treatments always go to an automotive dealer. The way they will give treatment to the car rust is not comparable with the way you will treat the car rust at home. Their treatment will always be better. They can give you the best color matches with the car color. So the exact paint will again give the car new look.
These will definitely seal out the naked part and prevent the moisture to come in contact with the body part thus keeping the car body rust free.

Free Tips on How to Replace Your Windshield Wipers

Your windshield wipers are a very important part of your car. Once they start going bad, you are going to notice. The only problem is that a lot of people do not replace the wipers as much as they should. They say that you should try and replace your windshield wipers about once a year. Of course, it really depends on how much it rains in the area that you live. Just remember not to let them get too bad. After all, you only use them when you really need them, and if they are bad, you could be in trouble.
The first thing that you are going to want to do to replace your windshield wipers on your Toyota is to find the right replacements. Finding the right replacement blades is, of course, going to count on which kind of Toyota you have. For example, the Toyota Tacoma is going to have different blades than the Toyota Prius. You can refer to your owner's manual to make sure you get the right wipers, but most of the time, the windshield wipers will have the cars that they can be used for right on the box. Last, but not least, make sure you buy the whole blade and not just the rubber striping. These are a lot harder to change than what you may think they would be.

Getting Started
The first thing that you are going to want to do is, of course, read the instructions that come with the windshield wiper blades. Keep in mind that the left and right blades are going to be different. Most of the time, the boxes are going to be marked which ones go wear. However, if they are not, then you can simply match them up with the ones that are on your car and mark them yourself. After matching them up, you will want to pull the wiper blades on your car to the up position. You will notice that when you pull on the wiper blades, they will come forward. This is known as the up position, or the service position.
At this point, you will be removing the old worn out wiper blades by simply releasing the tabs that are found at the top of the blade. If you have an old Toyota, you may notice that they require a very small screwdriver to help release the tab. After you remove the blades, it will be time to install the new ones. All you have to do here is push the new blade arm in until they click into place. After that, you will just push the whole blade arm back to the down position, or what auto shops would call the locked position. Before using them, make sure that they are securely located into place. After you get them on, try using them to make sure that the new blade does not come off during use.
New Wiper Blades
The main thing that you are going to want to do is test them before driving in the rain with them. It is always a good idea to test everything to make sure that it is functioning correctly before you start to use it. Otherwise, you could find yourself out on the open road with wiper blades that go flying off. This would be a very bad situation to be in. Also remember, after changing them, you can throw out your worn out wiper blades; there is no reason to keep them. Unlike other car parts, this is a piece of equipment that is fine to just throw out. Also, remember that it's best to go with name brand wipers over off brand ones. Off brand wipers are only going to save you a little bit, and you are taking a big risk with them. That is something that you are not going to want to do when it's your family's life in your hands!

Free Tips For Proper Car Maintenance

We all want our cars to last and no one wants to be stranded along side the road with a malfunctioning car or worse yet stalled in the midst of freeway traffic. You can avoid or minimize these calamities by doing the necessary maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's owner's manual.
Check your oil at least once a month. You should also plan to change oil and buy a new filter every 3000 miles. Be sure to use the recommended oil for your engine. You can find this information in the owner's manual. If however, you purchased a pre-owned car and there is no owner's manual, check with the dealer.

If you live in the Snow Belt you may need to use a different grade of oil in the wintertime. And if you are in an extremely hot climate, you may also need to change the grade of your oil. Again, the owner's manual will specify the proper grades to use.
When you do your monthly oil check, you also need to check the coolant and the transmission fluid.
It is important to maintain these fluids at their proper levels to protect your engine and transmission. And, just as with oil, you need to purchase the type fluid recommended by the manufacturer.
Don't wait until your gas tank is practically empty before refueling. There are sediments at the bottom of your gas tank. If you let the gas levels become low, these sediments will mix in with the gasoline. Then your spark plugs and some engine parts may become clogged. This can entail expensive repairs later on.
Check your battery cables and terminals to ensure you have a good electrical connection. It is also a good idea to always have a set of jumper cables with you. You can usually always find someone to give you a "jump" if you have the cables.
If you have purchased a new car, the owner's manual will advise inspections every so many miles. These are important to keep your warranty in effect.
You should also keep a record of all maintenance performed on your car. This record will help you when you get ready to sell or trade in your car. Prospective buyers are impressed by cars that have been well maintained and this adds to the value of your car.
It is also important to keep your car looking good. Appearance is a major factor when reselling or trading in a car. You need to be careful about parking under trees, particularly if birds are around. Bird droppings can cause paint damage so if a bird does choose your car for a deposit, clean it off immediately.
You need to wash your car often. Many gas stations offer free car washes with a fill-up so this isn't difficult to do. It just takes some extra time.
It is recommended that you wax your car a couple of times a year. This protects the paint from corrosion and also keeps your car looking shiny.
If you notice odd noises or smells, you may have a problem so you need to have a mechanic check the car. Failure to follow up on these can result in breakdowns, accidents and definitely more expensive repairs at a later date. Even if your car appears to be running okay, you should have a professional mechanic check it out once a year.
A little time and money spent on periodic maintenance can help you avoid expensive repairs at a later date.

Free Tips on How to Plug a Tire

When it comes to your Toyota car, you are going to want to make sure that you are never left without a spare tire. However, not everyone has a spare tire when it comes to an emergency. The good news is that they make tire plugs for cars. These are little kits that you can use to plug up holes in all of the popular Toyota brands, including the Corolla, Highlander, Supra, and many more.
The first thing that you have to do is buy one of these tire plug kits to keep in your car at all times. A lot of people like keeping these in the car anyway, because they are much smaller than a spare tire. Not only that, but they are a lot easier to use; meaning that just about anyone can use them. Something else that you may want to have is a can of compressed air. A lot of times, there are cans that you can buy that have compressed air in them with a solution that goes in the tire. Although this kind of can would not fix a big hole in a tire like a plug would, it would help a plug out. Not only that, but if you have a hole in your tire, you are not going to be able to drive on it after you patch it up, because there would be no air pressure left. These cans can put air pressure back into your tire to make it drivable again.

Steps to Using a Tire Plug
The first step is to find the foreign object that got stuck in your tire. It is a good idea to pull this object out with a pair of pliers. Make sure you do this in the same direction as the tire's tread goes. Next, you may want to use something to mark the spot of the hole so that you do not lose it. Next, you will need to jack the car up and remove the tire if the puncture is in a spot that is hard to locate. Also, you may want to do this so that you can move the tire to a safe location away from the side of the road.
At this point, you will want to take the rasp that is included in your kit, quickly insert it, and remove it from the hole. See, this is going to make the hole rough. You will want to do this so that the cement that comes with the patch kit can easily bond to the tire. Now you need to locate the plug that comes with the kit you have. You may also want to pull out the cement at this time. Put on the cement, and use the insertion tool to stick the plug into the hole. Be sure to leave about ½ inch of the plug still outside of the tire. After that, you will have to pull the insertion tool out very straight and very quickly. When you pull it out be sure to leave the plug inside.
After all of that, you will want to cut the plug so that it becomes flush with the tire and the surrounding tire tread. If you have removed the tire from the Toyota, then it would now be time to put it back on. After replacing the tire, you will want to read the directions on the back of the compressed air to fill back up the tire.
A Quick Note about Plug Kits
Please note that after patching up your tire you are going to want to get a new one just as soon as possible. Although plug kits work really well, they are not a permitted fix by any means to a blown out tire. Driving on them for long time spans is not safe. Be sure to read in your plug kit directions about how long you can drive on these plugs. Some of them only last long enough to get you to the store to get a new tire. There is no reason why you would want to take a chance at blowing out the plug while driving around for too long.

Car Maintainance Checklist -Wear and Tear Parts

When it comes to used cars, it's often the small problems that are left unchecked which end up costing the most money. Unfortunately, given enough time, they can require repairs that often cost thousands of dollars. Most drivers can avoid expensive car repairs simply by addressing issues as they occur. Below, I'll describe a few common problems and how to resolve them.

The Wrong Gas
Drivers fill their gas tanks with the wrong type of fuel more often than you might think. For example, they'll put diesel gas in when they should be using unleaded (or vice versa). It's an innocent mistake, but it can cause severe damage. If you fill your tank with the wrong gas and recognize the mistake immediately, don't start your engine. Doing so will circulate the gas throughout your car, potentially damaging parts in the process.
Instead, have your car towed to the nearest mechanic. He'll be able to drain the gas tank of the wrong fuel. The drain may cost a few hundred dollars, but it's better than having to pay thousands to repair or replace expensive parts.
Bad Water Pump
Your car's water pump will likely develop a leak at some point. When it does, you should replace it as soon as possible. A lot of drivers fail to do so and as a result, their car's engine ends up overheating. The problem is that an overheated engine can cause the head gasket to blow or rupture. While a blown gasket may sound benign, it usually requires that substantial repair work be performed on the engine.
Replacing the water pump may only cost a few hundred dollars (including the labor). By contrast, replacing the head gasket can carry a price tag of over $2,000. Address the problem early and you'll save money in the long run.
Low Oil
The motor oil that you put in your car lubricates the parts during combustion. If your car runs out of oil, that lubrication deteriorates. When that happens, the parts grind together and heat builds, eventually causing your car to die. At that point, adding oil might not do much good because your engine is likely damaged and may even need to be replaced. Aside from running your car off a steep cliff, allowing the oil levels to decline is one of the most damaging things you can do.
Taking care of your car is largely a matter of identifying and addressing small problems early. If you do, those small problems won't lead to expensive car repairs in the future. And these days, when the economy is soft, avoiding unnecessary repairs is like money in the bank.

The automotive burglar alarm systems nowadays are more complicated than this. Aside from simple sensors, they now include switches and even detect movement. This motion detector is why we often encounter alarms going off with just the slightest movement or with nearby noise. The type of alarm can also be chosen such that the sound is distinct and can easily be recognized by the owner even from afar. Modern automotive burglar alarm systems can also be wireless and can be controlled remotely and can also have a supplementary battery such that it still works even if main battery fails. All of these added features come with a price, but it is all worth it considering the added security and protection for a prized possession.
